About us

Since their meeting in 2009, husband-and-wife team David Pecor and Cathy Owen had dreamt of owning their own restaurant. Through the years, their experiences together grew from high-volume Italian, hotel and restaurant management, and upscale seafood, to co-ownership in a craft BBQ restaurant.  In 2023 they were able to purchase Surf’s Up Restaurant with a commitment to honoring the past and an eye to the future. Extensive travel and their time living in rural Vermont, coastal Texas, and now here in beautiful Virginia, drives their decision to source and support locally whenever possible. Their menu includes the highest quality local seafood, juicy Virginia burgers, craft BBQ, comforting sides, and delicious desserts. David, Cathy and their dedicated staff look forward to the years to come as they continue to serve the growing community of Poquoson and beyond.
